Sierra Leone's Government
Sierra Leone's government is a democracy, and it it very similar to America's. It has a legislative, executive, and judicial branch; its legislative branch has a congress. Sierra Leone's president is Ernest Bai Koroma (who is pictured above).
VotingVoting in Sierra Leone is done by secret ballot. Everyone of 18 years or older is free to vote.
Sierra Leone's FlagSierra Leone's Flag is made up of three colors; green, white, and blue. The green represents Sierra Leone's resorces, mainly its agriculture. The white represents unity and justice. The blue represents the coast of Freetown.

Economics
Currency and WealthThe national currency of Sierra Leone is the Sierra Leonean Leone. One US dollar is worth 5,500 Sierra Leonean Leones. Sierra Leone is not very wealthy; the average person makes $2 a day (the average American makes $211 a day).
Agriculture and Natural ResourcesAgriculture accounts for 58 percent of gross domestic product in Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone produces rice, cassava, and other plants as well. Most natural resources are agriculture related but some are received from mining, such as diamond and gold. Most diamonds are found in rivers and most plants are grown or naturally found on the west side of Sierra Leone.
Industries and InfrastructureSierra Leone's top industry is diamonds. Sierra Leone has plenty of roads, bridges, and other forms of infrastructure, but it has been recovering since the civil war.
